The district administration and officials of theFood Department ina joint raid seized tonnes of liver meat and sealed the warehouses where it was stored in Gulbahar and Haji Camp areas of Peshawar city.
District Nazim Peshawar Muhammad Asim initiated theaction afterreceiving complaints that daily one container of imported liver meat from Indiawas being dumpedin the warehouses in Peshawar city and withinhours supplied to eateriesinMardan, Kohat and other districts of Khyber Pakthunkhwa.
The liver meat is first imported to the UAE from India and then to Karachiand after that reaches Peshawar in 45 days. The meat is almost rotten and stinks when it reaches Peshawar, he added.
In July this year around 160 kilogrammes of liver meat imported from India was destroyed by authorities inPeshawar city.
