45-year-old man shot dead in UP

Tension gripped Raasna village here today when a 45-year-old man who was to contest for the post of Gram Pradhan was shot dead allegedly by a person belonging to his village, who was later 'beaten to death' by the locals.
Kuldeep Tyagi was preparing to contest for the post of Gram Pradhan, police said.
According to locals, one Nigam Tyagi belonging to the same village had said that anyone who would contest for the post of Gram Pradhan would meet a bad fate, they said.
Kuldeep was going to meet some people in the village when he was intercepted by three bike-borne men who allegedly shot at him. Kuldeep died on the spot after sometime, police said.

One of the accused was caught by the locals who allegedly beat him up following which he died. The deceased has been identified as Samundar Pal (40), they said.
Efforts are being made to nab the absconding accused and police force has been deployed in the area.
