45-yr-old woman raped in UP

A 45-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man on the pretext of giving her a lift in Shamli district, police said today.
The woman was on her way to her maternal house yesterday when the accused, Sanjay, offered her a lift in his van at Chousana-Thanabhawan road, following which he took her to a tubewell and raped her.
On hearing her cries for help, locals came to the spot, beat up Sanjay and handed him over to the police.
The accused has been arrested and a case has been registered against him, police said.
In a separate incident, two youths were arrested for harassing an eleventh class girl at Budhana town yesterday.

The two accused, Asif and Yusuf, were beaten up by the locals and handed over to the police, SHO Dhanjay Mishra said.
They have been arrested and a case was registered against them on the complaint of the girl's father, he said.
