The incident took place this morning when the children alongwith their family members were returning home in a bullock cart after visiting a local fair.
At Pongla nullah, when the cart driver attempted to make the bullocks drink water from the pond, the kids in the cart lost balance and slipped, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Pallia-Martand Prakash Singh said.
The bodies were later fished out of the pond with the help of locals.
The five kids were identified as Sanjay (15), Karina (10), Nirjala (10), Nirmala (8) and Phoola (12).S
