The mishap occurred last night when the luxury jeep first hit a divider and then rammed into the passenger vehicle on Sitapur road, killing five persons on the spot, they said.
Four of those who died were members of the marriage party travelling in the passenger vehicle while the fifth one was travelling in the jeep.
All the injured were admitted to a trauma centre, police added.
