5 hurt as BKU supporters clash with police

Five people, including two policemen, were injured as supporters of an expelled Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader clashed with police in Kushinagar district today.
The supporters of Dhruv Narain Yadav were protesting before the Jetha police station in support of their demand when someone from the public threw chilli powder into the eyes of the police station incharge, Pawan Kumar Singh and snatched his pistol when he tried to clear the road, IG (Law and Order) A Satish Ganesh said.
He said the mob turned violent and started pelting stones and indulged in vandalism forcing police to use force.
Two policemen and three locals were injured in the incident and were admitted to hospital, Ganesh said, adding security has been stepped up in the area and a case has been registered.
