5 killed, 2 hurt in tractor-lorry collision

Five persons, including four women, were killed and two others injured when their tractor trolley collided head-on with a lorry on Betul-Nagpur four-lane road, police said today.
The accident took place late last night at Betul Bazaar when the sugarcane-laden tractor-trolley, which was also carrying the victims, was hit by the lorry coming from the opposite direction, Betul police station inspector Rajendra Dhurve said.
While five persons died on the spot in the mishap, two others sustained injuries and have been admitted to the district hospital, he said.
The deceased have been identified as -- Dheerwanti (18), Somti (30), Meena (24), Rekha (19) and Kamlesh, he said.

Further investigation was on into the mishap, police said.
