The mishap occurred last evening when the victims were returning to Indore after taking a bath in river Narmada, Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) R C Pathak said.
A Barwah-bound truck hit their car killing five persons on the spot, he said.
The deceased were identified as Akash (19), Ravi (24), Motilal (40), Rahul (22), and Gayaprasad (23).
The injured were admitted to a local hospital in Barwah. The truck driver fled the spot, police said, adding a case has been registered in this regard and investigation is underway.
