All the five, are students of a medical college in Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu. They were on a weekend trip here.
Police said the students were taking a bath in the sea last night off Bommayarpalayam village when all off a sudden, they were dragged by a strong wave.
On hearing the cries for help, the local fishermen rushed to their rescue and pulled them to the shore.
One of the students was admitted to the ICU ward while the other four students were being treated in the general ward, sources at hospital said.
