Five members of a family were today killed after a temporary mud house collapsed due to rains at Jasuwal village, nearly 40 km from here.
Harjinder Kaur (50), her three sons -- Sonu (30), Gurinder Singh (25), Gurdip Singh (21), -- and her nephew Sukhbir (18) were killed when the house collapsed due to heavy rains in the area, Baba Bakala Tehsil Sub Divisional Magistrate Rohit Gupta said.
Harjinder Kaur's husband, Jagir Singh, had a narrow escape, Gupta said, adding, Singh would be given compensation as per Punjab Government norms as this case would be covered under natural calamity.
