As many as 50 alleged bonded labourers were rescued from a brick kiln in Sinhar village area here this afternoon, a senior government official said.
"On reports of bonded labourers being used in brick kiln, a raid was carried out in which a large number of workers belonging to Bihar were found working there," Additional Labour Commissioner Pankaj Singh Rana said.
Prima facie, this is a matter of bonded labour, Rana said, adding that the kiln owner failed to provide minimum wage register and a case has been registered against him.
So far, 50 labourers have been freed, but their numbers could rise with further investigation, he added.
