Naidu, while reviewing the 'Swachh Bharat' campaign and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme asked the officials to utilise funds from these two programmes for the construction of 52 lakh individual household toilets in the state in next four years, according to a release issued by the state's Information and Public Relations Department.
He said that out of the 8 lakh toilets to be constructed this year, four lakh were already completed and the remaining were in various stages of progress. Naidu also asked the officials that the toilets' construction target of this year should be completed by March end.
Out of the total estimated construction of 28,000 kms of cement roads in villages, at present 5,000 kms roads are under-construction at a cost of about Rs 2,000 crore.
Naidu also suggested the officials to utilise funds from MGNREG scheme for construction of the cement roads.
