533 men recruited in Army from TN, Puducherry, A&N Islands

:As many as 533 men were recruited as soldiers in the Indian Army during 2016-17 from six districts of Tamil Nadu, besides the Union Territories of Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar Islands and aspirants were advised by authorities to beware of touts.
They were recruited from the districts of Vellore, Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Tiruvallore, Chennai, Kanchipuram, besides Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a defence press release said here today.
Of the 533 men, the last batch of 32 were enrolled on March 10 were sent to various training centres across the nation.
"The selection is transparent and free of cost, nothing other than the performance of the candidate affects his selection or rejection, prospective candidates and their parents should beware of touts and pay nothing in cash or kind to anyone," the release said.
The Recruiting Office (Headquarters), Fort Saint George, here recruited the men in the Army as soldiers under various categories. The next recruitment rally is planned during the second half of July 2017.
"Prospective candidates are advised to start preparing for the first and most difficult test, which is a 1.6 km run in a maximum of 5 minutes 45 seconds for all categories."
Details of the recruitment would be published in leading newspapers and broadcast in television channels, All India Radio and official website, the release added.
