The Zilla Panchayat elections held in 50 constituencies in Goa today recorded about 55 per cent voter turnout.
For the first time, the ZP polls were contested on the party lines in the state.
There were no untoward incidents, said the state election commissioner Df A Modassar.
There were no queues at the polling booths, reflecting the tepid response of voters.
As many as 49 candidates are in the fray.
BJP, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak party (MGP) and Goa vikas Party (GVP) have formed an alliance, while Congress and NCP have not put up any official nominees but their leaders have supported various candidates.
