55-year-old man shot for resisting robbery in UP

A 55-year-old contractor was shot at for allegedly resisting a robbery attempt by six armed men at Dehpa village in Hapur district, police said today.
The incident occurred last night when the assailants attacked victim Yakub Ali's house under Pilkhuwa police station and started looting at gun-point, they said.
A family member caught hold of one of the robbers, after which one of the armed men shot Yakub in the abdomen. The robbers then fled from the spot, police said.
Yakub was admitted to a hospital here where he was operated upon, they said, adding a complaint was registered against the robbers by the family members.
