A senior district police official said the SUV, ferrying guests from a marriage reception, was coming from Balarampur in the district when it hit another sport utility vehicle parked on the arterial road from behind at around 4.30 AM in district headquarters town of Purulia.
The deceased were all occupants of the vehicle which was travelling at high speed.
The four seriously injured were referred from Purulia Sadar Hospital to Jamshedpur Tata Memorial Hospital, the officer said.
