The six are among the nine accused named in the FIR registered in connection with the attack, Vaishali Superintendent of Police Rakesh Kumar told PTI.
The FIR, also lodged against 100 unnamed persons, was based on the statement of a sub-inspector of Raja Pakar police station, the SP said.
Search is on for the other accused.
Modi's carcade was attacked near Kala Pahar village last night when he was going to attend the "shradh" ceremony of the mother of former BJP MLA Achutanand Singh.
Narrating the incident, Modi today alleged that a large number of RJD supporters pelted stones on his carcade damaging windshields of three vehicles.
Many of them shouted slogans against him, surrounded his 'rath' (vehicle) and tried to get inside, he alleged.
"Had my security personnel not been there, a big mishap could have happened," the senior BJP leader said.
Modi said he was attacked because RJD supporters were "disappointed after power had slipped from their hands".
After Lalu Prasad had last night dismissed any role of his partymen in the attack, Tejaswi Yadav too denied Modi's charge today.
"Since I am going to Bhagalpur to expose a scam in which crores of government money have been swindled, the chief minister is trying to stop me from going there," Tejaswi Yadav alleged in a statement.
The 'attack' was the result of a conspiracy, he said.
"We are believers of Gandhiji. Violence is not our path," he said.
On Tejaswi's assertion that the government of the day was trying to stop him from reaching Bhagalpur to expose a scam, Neeraj Kumar said, "It does look nice for one who himself is embroiled in corruption."
Congress state president Ashok Choudhary said the party condemns attack on politicians, "be it Rahul Gandhi or Sushil Kumar Modi".
