The clash occurred early this morning between youths of Panivilai village and Vaniyakurichi after a group from one of the villages picked up a quarrel over the other making some comments about the decorations.
Police said they arrested five persons in connection with the clash.
In another incident, some miscreants set ablaze the Christmas decorations put up by a person at Kizhakku Kurichi near Thakalai, police said adding two persons had been arrested in this connection.
A Police jeep was damaged in the clash. Police said they arrested seven persons in connection with the clash.
