The incident took place this evening in Amarkantak area around 110 kms from here, Anupur Collector Narendra Singh Parmar and Additional Superintendent of Police Mukesh Vaishya told PTI.
"Six labourers working at the under-construction Jain temple were killed after the crane collapsed following squall and untimely rains. Nine persons received injuries in the incident and the number of causalities is likely to go up," they said.
According to the officials, problems are being faced in the relief and rescue operation due to hostile weather conditions in the region.
