The spokesman said that Malsawmzuala (35) of Aizawl was arrested for allegedly possessing the contraband worth around Rs two lakh in the local market.
The accused was booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and produced before the Special Judge (ND and PS Act) who remanded him to the judicial custody.
Mizoram, with its strategic location, has been one of the main routes for heroin trafficking via Myanmar with which it shares 404-km international border as Myanmar has close proximity with the infamous Golden Triangle.
