T Kotewsara Rao lured the girl by offering money to buy chocolates and took her in a dilapidated house at Indira Colony in Pedana town yesterday, local Sub-Inspector G Srinivas said.
A passer-by saw the elderly man with the girl and got suspicious. He alerted the neighbours, who found that the accused was behaving inappropriately with the 11-year-old victim, he said.
The parents of the victim last night lodged an attempt to rape complaint against the accused, who was arrested.
