63-year old man gets life term for killing daughter-in-law

A court here has sentenced a 63-year old man to life imprisonment for murdering his daughter-in-law in 2008.
Chief Judicial Additional Magistrate K Rajasekar also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on Paramasivam yesterday.
According to prosecution, Paramasivam of Vellaiyur village was upset over his son handing over his monthly earnings to his wife and not to him.
Following a quarrel on June 7, 2008, he allegedly strangulated daughter-in-law Bharathy (26) and poured poison into her mouth to make it appear as a case of suicide.
However, pricked by conscience, the very next day he confessed to the crime before the Village Administrative Officer and was subsequently arrested.
