BJP's vice president and membership campaign president Dinesh Sharma said it had close to three crore members before it launched the current drive from the November last year and had one crore new members join it in the first month alone.
The drive ends on March 31.
"We enrolled one crore more members in the next 22 days, one crore more in the next 13 days, one crore more in next 16 days... The members enrolled through mobile reached 7.2 crore by March 16," he said in a statement, expressing confidence that the Centre's good work will help the party gather maximum number of members among all political parties in the world.
The party aims to increase the number of its active members by 50 percent and primary members by three fold in all states.
