Seven people, including four women, died and two injured in a collision between an overcrowded autorickshaw in which they were returning after attending Ramnavami festival and a lorry in Telangana Sunday, police said.
The accident occurred near Kodad town in Suryapet district when the speeding autorickshaw tried to overtake a vehicle, resulting in the head-on collision.
Five people were killed on the spot while two of the four others who suffered injuries succumbed at a hospital, district Superintendent of Police R Venkateswarlu told PTI.
The victims were returning to their native Kodad after participating in the Ramnavami celebrations at a Lord Ram temple in Tammara village in the district.
