The incident took place at around 1.30 P.M. As a police team was chasing one Sahib, who is wanted in cases of robbery, murder, dacoity and attempt to murder in the area.
"We received a tip-off that Sahib, a native of West Bengal, was coming towards JJ clusters in Block No.9 this afternoon and laid a trap (to nab him).
"When he reached the spot, we tried to nab him, but he took to his heels. We gave chase and there was exchange of fire between police and Sahib," said a senior police officer.
"The girl and Sahib were rushed to a nearby hospital where they are undergoing treatment. Their condition is stated to be stable. Police are probing Sahib's involvement in other cases in the area as well," the officer added.
