750 kgs plastic items collected

As part of the drive to make the city plastic free, about 750 kgs of plastic items and carry bags were collected from the Kurichi pond nearby the city in three hours today.
Corporation Commissioner, G Latha led a 300 member team from the Corporation and NGOs and managed to remove plastic carry bags, used cups and other plastic items, from the pond spread over 10 acres.
Lauding the cooperation given by Kurichi Pond Protection Committee, Latha asked the citizens to emulate the initiative to make the environment green and pollution free.
