750 tortoises rescued in Pratapgarh, smugglers arrested

Three suspected tortoise smugglers have been arrested from Pratapgarh railway station after GRP officials found 750 tortoises, worth Rs 1.25 crores in sixteen airbags they were carrying.
They were arrested during the routine checking at platform number 2, GRP arrested three people carrying 750 tortoise packed in 16 airbags, GRP police station incharge Bhupendra Singh said.
The trio, hailing from Sultanpur, were on their way to Kolkata by Howrah Mail, Singh said, adding, a case has been registered against them and further investigations to nab their aides are on.
