"The BSF detected suspicious movement in the area. The force and police then conducted a search operation and nabbed eight Bangladeshis," Sub-inspector of Matili Rathan police station Purshottam Sharma said.
"It has been confirmed that they are Bangladeshis and had come here to cross the border with help of some local agents, who are yet to be caught," Sharma said.
There were nine people in the group that reached Sriganganagar yesterday, the sub-inspector said, adding one person was yet to be nabbed.
The accused were being interrogated by BSF and will be handed over to police later, he added.
