Regional Interior Ministry spokesman Gustavo Alcalde said the cause of the fire, which broke out in early today, is still unknown and was being investigated.
Alcalde says one of the nursing home's caretakers has also been hospitalized.
One man with serious burns is in a critical condition in the intensive care unit of a local hospital, regional health spokesman Sebastian Celeya said, adding the others are suffering from smoke inhalation.
