An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a young man in the Khour area in the outskirts of Jammu city.
Sanjay Kumar (21) barged into his neighbour's house yesterday and raped the minor as she was alone there, police said, adding Kumar threatened the victim of dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone.
The girl, however, narrated the ordeal to her parents, who lodged a complaint against the accused at Khour police station, they said.
The medical examination of the girl confirmed that she was raped, police said.
A case was registered and a manhunt has been launched to nab the accused, a police officer said.
