The man and his wife were in deep sleep last night when the wall, which was wet due to rains being experienced for the last one week, fell on them, they said.
Neighbours who rushed there removed the couple from the debris.
While the man was found dead his wife escaped unhurt, they said.
Meanwhile a report from Erode said, traffic in the town was paralysed for more than an hour due to heavy rain this afternoon. The town experienced very heavy rain from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm. Areas near the Municipal Nethaji market, Brough road and Municipal colony were surrounded by knee deep of water.
