"Election remained peaceful. 84 percent of total 6,45,840 voters today cast their votes in the village committee elections," officials said.
Election was held in 528 of the 587 village committees as Left parties have already been elected unopposed in 59 village committees.
Altogether 8194 candidates were in fray of which 3695 were from ruling Left Front, 601 from Congress, 983 from BJP and the rest are from regional parties.
The tribal council area is formed with two third of the state territory and is home to tribals who forms one third of the state's population. The village committees are equivalent to village panchayat committees.
