The incident came to light after another neighbour spotted the accused assaulting the girl and raised an alarm, following which the 26-year-old accused fled the scene.
The girl's father then went to the accused youth's house to inform his parents about the act and to confront him, a senior police official said.
The accused, who is a labourer, then suddenly arrived there and allegedly thrashed the girl's father, following which he approached the police.
The girl was counselled by an NGO and the accused was produced before a court which sent him to 14-days judicial custody, he said.
According to police, the incident took place yesterday when the girl was playing outside her house at Ali Gaon in Sarita Vihar and the accused approached her.
He offered her a Rs 10 note and lured her with toffees to take her to a secluded spot close to the railway tracks nearby.
The accused allegedly removed her clothes and sexually assaulted the girl fled after he noticed a neighbour passing by.
