9-year-old murdered; gangrape suspected

A 9-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped and murdered by two youths at Musaboni copper township area in Ghatsila sub-division of East Singhbhum district, police today said.
The minor, a resident of Uperbandha, had gone out to puja pandal along with her younger sister when she was lured by the accused duo last night who offered her 'Pakodi' (local delicacy), Deputy Superintendent of Police (Musaboni), Ajit Vimal today.
The child was taken to a deserted place and allegedly gangraped in turn, the DSP said adding after committing the crime, the accused strangulated her to death.
The duo were identified as Chotka Gope (25), a resident of Pilaboni situated across Uperbandha, and Dhano Tudu (24), a resident of Uperbandha.

The younger sister of the minor, who had witnessed the duo taking her elder sister away, narrated the incident to her parents, who along with villagers rushed to the spot and caught hold of the accused.
The villagers thrashed them before handing over to police, the DSP said adding that the injured have been referred to M G M Hospital here.
