90 more candidates qualified for Civil Services 2012

As many as 90 candidates, who were put on a reserved list, have been declared qualified for Civil Services Examination, 2012 by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
998 candidates were declared qualified by the UPSC for the 2012 examination in order of merit for appointment to IAS, IFS, IPS and other central services, as against 1,091 vacancies, results of which were declared in May last year.
The Commission, in accordance with Civil Services Examination Rules, was also maintaining a consolidated reserve list in order of merit below the last recommended candidate under the respective categories.
As sought by the Department of Personnel & Training, the UPSC has now recommended 90 candidates which include 67 General, 22 Other Backward Class (OBC) and one Scheduled Tribe (ST), to fill up the remaining posts based on the Civil Services Examination, 2012, a release issued today by the government said.
A list of these candidates is available on the UPSC website-- www.Upsc.Gov.In.
"The recommended candidates will be communicated directly by the DoPT," it said.
Of the 998 successful candidates--753 male and 245 female-- 457 were in General (including 23 physically challenged) category, 295 OBC (including nine Physically challenged), 169 SCs (including two physically challenged) and 77 STs.
There were 1,091 advertised vacancies-- 550 General, 295 OBC, 169 SCs and 77 STs-- for Civil Service Examination 2012.
UPSC conducts Civil Services Examination to select candidates for prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) among others.
The Civil Services Examination is conducted in three stages--preliminary, main and interview.
