923 child marriage complaints received in last 3 years in Hry

As many as 923 complaints of child marriage have so far been received since 2014 and 531 such marriages were prevented through counselling, the Haryana government said here today.
Haryana Women and Child Development Minister Kavita Jain, was replying to a question raised by MLA Karan Singh Dalal on the second day of the ongoing budget session of the State Assembly here.
Among the complaints, Jain said that in 2014-15, as many as 246 complaints were reported, and child marriage was prevented through counselling in 119 cases and with injunction orders in 48 cases.
As many as 28 complaints were referred to police for necessary action and application was filed in court for nullity in 13 cases under Section 3 of Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006. The girl or boy was found to be a major after enquiry or complaint was found to be false after enquiry in 49 cases.
In 2015-16, as many as 315 complaints were reported, and child marriage was prevented through counselling in 182 cases and with injunction orders in 37 cases. As many as 18 complaints were referred to police for necessary action and application was filed in court for nullity in 11 cases.
She said that in 2016-17, as many as 362 complaints were reported, and child marriage was prevented through counselling in 230 cases and with injunction orders in 38 cases.
To another question raised in the House regarding road accidents, the Assembly was informed that out of 10,512 accidents which occurred in the state in year 2014-15, 4,600 persons had lost their lives while there were 4,880 casualties in 2015-16 out of 11,188 accidents.
From April 2016 to December 2016, out of 8,446 accidents, there were 3,800 casualties, the House was informed.
To another question raised in the House, Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister, Vipul Goel said that 359 companies had signed Memoranda of Understanding during 'Happening Haryana' Global Investors Summit last year.
Goel said work has started on 157 projects in 16 districts with proposed investment of about Rs 85,075.58 crore.
Investment of Rs 11,900.04 crore has already been made in these projects, he stated.
