9635 cases pending with CFSL & FSL

A total of 9635 cases are pending with Central Forensic Science Laboratory and Forensic Science Laboratories (FSL) in the country with the FSL in Rohini topping the charts with 80-85 per cent of pending samples.
In a written response to a question in Lok Sabha, Union Minister of state for Home Affairs, Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said Delhi Police has reported that the number of cases pending with CFSL and FSL as on October 31 is 9635.
The minister cited that the Government of Delhi has cited the shortage of manpower for the main reason for pendency of cases. In order to liquidate the pendency of cases, 129 employees have been appointed on contractual basis from June this year to increase in disposal of cases.

The Central government has issued advisory to all states and Union territories to ensure that police and investigation agencies deposit all the relevant material with the FSLs at the time of depositing case property without fail in order to expedite the examination of cases by FSLs in a timely manner.
