980 cartons of liquor seized in UP

Police have seized 980 cartons containing liquor bottles in Shamli district, allegedly smuggled from Haryana to Uttar Pradesh.
The consignment contained liquor worth Rs 50 lakh, circle officer Waseem Khan said.
A truck carrying the consignment was intercepted near Ahmedgarh police check post on Karnal-Meerut highway under Jhinjhana Police station in Shamli district last evening, Khan said.
The driver fled the scene, he said adding a case has been registered in this connection.
