Almost all Aam Aadmi Party MLAs, seemed happy, enthusiastic and confident in the House where the Opposition has negligible presence with only three legislators.
"The huge mandate of the people has taken our confidence level to the zenith. We are hopeful of running the government without any glitches for the next five years," Rakhi Birla, AAP MLA from Mangolpuri, said.
Birla, who looked different from her usual off white kurta, opted for a blue velvet jacket and a cream suit for the session.
"Nothing has changed. The party is the same, so is our Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Our entire team is the same. Positions do not matter," said Birla, who was the Minister for Women and Child, Social Welfare in the 2013 AAP government said.
The AAP MLAs dressed in their best were seen with their family posing for the cameras and answering media questions.
"We had many visitors today, wishing to see their elected representatives speak in the assembly. Aaj rush bhi tha aur josh bhi (there was rush as well as passion)," Speaker Ram Niwas Goel said.
"I took my family along as they are my biggest support. They campaigned for me and today they are the happiest to see me here," the 41-year-old leader said.
"The door-to-door campaigning we did helped us in sensing the pulse of the capital. I am sure that my husband would be able to solve the issues of Bawana, that has virtually become a dumping ground," his Sumitra Rani said, though with constant prompting from her husband.
"Yes I am teaching her the nuances of talking to the media," added the MLA with a smile.
"My attire today is a reminder that we should not forget our culture. Four MLAs also spoke in Maithli language in the assembly. We believe in taking care of all the linguistics," he said.
Apart from the cheering families, AAP volunteers were also present at the venue to boost the morale of their MLAs.
"We are happy that our leaders passed with flying colours in the political exam of Delhi. We will continue to work hard to take their presence forward among the masses," said one such volunteer.
