The girl, hailing from Assam, was working as a maid servant in the house of one Dipak Das at Chatterjeehat Avinash Banerjee lane for the last six months.
On Saturday, following an incident of theft inside the house, the girl was allegedly tortured by Dipak Das and two women members of his family.
Das also tried to allegedly molest her after which the girl tried to commit suicide by consuming poison, police said.
She was admitted to the Howrah district hospital in a serious condition the following day after she recuperated a bit she told the police about the incident and an FIR was filed.
