The 33-year-old star had no idea what she was going to do next after winning the trophy.
"Right after the Oscars, I had no idea what I was going to do next. Zero clue. There's a part of me that thought my life would go back to normal. Like at school. But it didn't. I did not get out of that unscathed, you know?," she told InStyle magazine in an interview.
"They go on to appear in bomb after bomb after bomb," she said.
Nyong'o will next appear in Jon Favreau's live-action "The Jungle Book" and Indian-American director Mira Nair's "Queen of Katwe".
