The announcement came after state Aviation Minister Saurabh Patel held a detailed meeting with AAI chairman S Raheja, who was here today, along with other top officials of the Union Civil Aviation Ministry, according to an official Gujarat government press release issued here today.
Besides approving two direct international flights from Ahmedabad and Surat, the AAI chairman also gave his nod to handover airstrips at Deesa in North Gujarat and Keshod in Saurashtra region to the Gujarat government, the release added.
He also requested the delegation to improve Ahmedabad airport's amenities, as well as construct an aerobridge.
