AAP announces 30 probables for 9 assembly constituencies

Former Congress and NCP leaders, Delhi Police personnel and relatives of freedom fighters are among the 30 probable candidates of Aam Aadmi Party for nine constituencies for upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP today released the fifth list of shortlisted candidates for Burari, Dwarka, Gandhinagar, Karol Bagh, Janakpuri, Mundka, Shahdra, Tilaknagar and Vikaspuri assembly constituencies.
"A total of 138 applications were received by the party but screening committee, after a discussion with the applicants, selected the 30 candidates which include former Congress and NCP leaders, ex-Delhi Police constable, relatives of freedom fighters, writer, advocates and social activists," AAP said in a statement.
Four each probables were selected for Burari, Dwarka, Janakpuri and Vikaspuri assembly constituencies, three each for Karol Bagh (reserved), Gandhinagar, Shahdra and Tilak Nagar, while two from Mundka assembly constituencies.
Among the probables Anil Kumar Bajpai and Mohammed Zahid from Gandhinagar assembly constituencies were associated with Congress while Mohit Singh, for Janakpuri, was the General Secretary of NCP Youth wing and Secretary in party's National Executive.
Bajpai was also the Secretary in Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee but left the party in protest against hike in power tariff by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, AAP said, adding Zahid was vice president of Congress' Minority cell.
Bajpai comes from a family of freedom fighter so also Nirupama Singh, who is one the probables from Gandhinagar, it said.
Krishna Kumar, who is one of the two probables from Mundka, was a constable with Delhi Police. He resigned from the force after he was impressed with the Anna Hazare's movement against corruption.
AAP has already announced the names of candidates for 29 assembly seats out of 70.
