AAP has abandoned its core principles, says Upadhyay

Expelled AAP leader Ashwini Upadhyay today alleged that the party had deviated from its core principles.
Upadhyay was recently expelled from the party for alleged anti-party activities.
"When we formed the Aam Aadmi party, we decided that our party would abstain from giving tickets to the corrupt, criminals and not do politics in the name of caste and religion; but the party has now deviated from these very issues," Upadhyay claimed addressing a press conference here.
He alleged that in the ongoing elections, AAP candidates in Delhi and in other places were seeking votes in the name of their respective castes or communities.

He alleged that party chief Arvind Kejriwal was indulging in communal politics. "When Arvind Kejriwal is in Okhla (Delhi), he says that Batla house encounter was a fake one, and then pays tribute to inspector M C Sharma (who died in that encounter) in a campaign in Hindu-dominated area of Dwarka. Is this not communalism?" Upadhyay asked.
He also criticised Kejriwal for resigning as the Chief Minister of Delhi on the issue of Jan Lokpal. "Rather than amending and strengthening the existing Delhi Lokayukta bill, you chose an unconstitutional path that you knew could not pass and then resigned only for political gains. You (Kejriwal) are not serious on fighting corruption," he said.

Upadhyay, former convener of the Legal Cell of AAP, also sought the details of payment made to the party's volunteers, and alleged that NGOs run by top AAP leaders receive foreign funding which is unaccounted for.
