With an aim to woo voters in Punjab for the Assembly elections on February 4, the Aam Aadmi Party is making all efforts with its state affairs in-charge Sanjay Singh meeting traders today at Sirhind near here.
During his visit, Singh launched a verbal tirade against the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), and Congress.
He alleged that SAD chief and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and state Congress Chief Amarinder Singh were playing a friendly match.
"They know that AAP is coming to power in the state in 2017. So they are resorting to diversionary tactics to save their skin. AAP is the last hope of the public disillusioned with anti-people policies of other political parties," he said.
Singh accused the state government of sheltering sand mafia, saying, "corruption has ruined the industry in Punjab".
He said that persons responsible for sacrilege incidents in Punjab will get harshest punishment if AAP comes to power in the polls.
Targeting the state on unemployment and the drug menace, he said, "on one side, there is huge list of vacancies in schools, hospitals and all the departments and on the other side, there is a huge number of unemployed youth protesting throughout the state,".
Singh assured the traders of mitigating their sufferings. He said local trade-related issues would also be incorporated in the party's trade manifesto so as to redress the traders' problems peculiar to particular areas in the state.
