An abandoned plastic bag containing fireworks and crackers was found at Kota railway station creating commotion and raising concerns over security measures at the station.
The polybag found lying at the escalator near booking office of unreserved tickets last evening was containing at least 27 local fireworks and unbranded crackers, security officials at the railway station said.
The incident created a ruckus at the railway station by the time the Government Railway Police (GRP) and bomb defusing teams reached the spot.
"The patrolling GRP constables noticed the polybag on the railway station and informed senior officials following which bomb defusing squad was call," SHO, GRP Kota railway station, Ganga Singh said.
GRP has lodged a case under sections of Explosion Act against the unidentified person but no one has been arrested so far in this connection.
SHO said some mining worker or fireworks trader is likely to have abandoned the polybag at the railway station due to fear of being caught.
"The police is however investigating the matter and suspected people from the railway station are being interrogated in this connection," he said and added CCTV footages were being examined to trace the miscreant.
Top city cops, officials from Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) also reached the spot immediately after the information.
Passenger movement was halted at the railway station for some time following the incident, officials said.
