found dead at his village in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district today, nearly three weeks after he was allegedly kidnapped by the ultras, police said.
Umesh Sarju Danu Mattami's body was found at Nainwadi in Etapalli taluka where he was living with his wife and children, they said.
Police suspect that Mattami, who had laid down arms in 2013 at Pomke Gatta village, was killed with the sharp-edged weapons by his former comrades.
According to police, Mattami was kidnapped by rebels on August 17.
He had worked as a Naxal group member in 2006 before he was promoted as deputy commander.
