A post-master, who had been abducted by unidentified people near Asanther village under Jama police station of Dumka district on Sunday, has returned home.
Superintendent of Police, Vipul Shukla, said Amarnath Jha, post-master of Chamara Baihar, was abducted while he was on his way to Dumka on his motorcycle.
The kidnappers, however, released him 'under police pressure' and Jha returned home in Amba village under Jermundi police station of the district last night, he said.
Following the abduction, a special investigative team headed by Shukla was formed to trace Jha.
In course of investigation, police came to know that the kidnappers first used a hired car to take Jha away but released it soon and took him on his own motorbike, Shukla told a press conference.
The police traced the driver of the hired car and interrogated him. Using leads provided by him, the police raided several places in search of Jha.
This scared the kidnappers who released him near Tapsi jungle under Jama police station last night, the SP said.
Jha, who was produced in the press meet, said the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh but from his son but they were not given any money.
Shukla said identity of the abductors have been established and they would be arrested soon.
