"I will be contesting the forthcoming PCB elections because I know I have the ability and cricketing experience to make a difference to Pakistan cricket," Qadir told PTI.
Qadir said he took the decision after consulting his family and friends in the cricket circle.
"It is the first time we are hearing about elections being held in the PCB and we all want this to happen because it will only be a step forward for Pakistan cricket," the former chief selector said.
Qadir said that it was about time former players came forward and did their bit for Pakistan cricket.
"Suffice to say our cricket is not in very good health and I strongly believe that cricketers have a big role to play even in the administration of the board," Qadir said.
