The Centre hasappointed Aboobakar Krishnapura as the trustee of the New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) for the next two years effectivefrom April 1.
An official release here said he would represent the staff employed at the port, having served a preceding term from 2017-19.
He currently also serves as the general secretary of Canara Port Workers' Union, state secretary of Indian NationalTrade Union Congress, Karnataka and Deputy General Secretaryof Indian National Port and Dock Workers Federation, NewDelhi.
He would represent the Canara Port Workers' Union inthe newly constituted board which came first in the recentlyheld elections for recognition of all trade unions, therelease added.
